Preparing for your Appointment
As of September 11th, 2025 the use of numbing agents has been banned in the state of Michigan unless prescribed by a doctor. Even with a prescription I must be informed ahead of time that you plan to use it. I’ll need a copy of the prescription to keep in your client file. I know it’s a bummer but it’s for the safety of the client and tattoo shop. Unfortunately I MUST turn you away if you arrive with numbing cream on for your appointment.
Please practice good hygiene! We’re in close proximity of each other for an extended amount of time. Kindly keep fragrances to a minimum or my nose will definitely start running about 30 minutes into our appointment and this is pretty inconvenient when I’m trying to tattoo.
Tattooing takes a toll on the body. Come well fed and hydrated to help prevent low blood sugar, nausea, or fainting. Hydrated skin takes ink better and heals more efficiently. Feel free to bring snacks or drinks for breaks if you’d like.
Wear cozy, layerable clothing so you can adjust if you get cold or warm. Make sure I can easily access the area being tattooed, and avoid wearing anything you’d be devastated to stain. I try my best to keep things tidy but sometimes ink smears or drips. Shoes off is totally fine if you’d like (just remember that hygiene thing!).
It’s not rude to bring headphones or a book! Tattooing takes a lot of focus on my part and I can be rather quiet during the initial phases of the tattoo process.
